The programme requires a manufacturer level membership in ABYC. If your organisation is not currently an ABYC member you will find membership information here.
ABYC utilizes an independent/accredited body to conduct the ABYC Component Certification programme. IMCI, the leading Notified Body in Europe has been contracted to run the ABYC Component Certification programme globally.
The programme requires that components meet or exceed the current applicable ABYC standards. The component manufacturer has two options for component testing:
Completed test reports and an application are submitted directly to IMCI and certificates are then issued to the manufacturer. A data base of all certified components is maintained on the IMCI website.
The initial component certificate is valid for the current year and following calendar year. Maintaining certification for each subsequent year requires an annual confirmation of the product specifications and compliance to the current standards and a small update fee. Retesting may or may not be required if the standards or component are changed.
